Just 80 minutes easy drive north of Auckland, New Zealand. Te Arai and her sister beach to the south, “Forestry,” are practically the only undeveloped beaches left between Auckland and Whangarei and yet are close to the rapidly growing centres of Matakana to the south and Mangawhai to the north.

Kilometres of pristine white sandy beaches and clean clear water providing some of the best surfing conditions you are likely to find anywhere, suitable for surfers of all skill levels.

Aotearoa Surf School is the only Surfing New Zealand approved Surf School based in the area. We provide easy step by step instruction with Wayne Glover, one of New Zealand’s most experienced and highly qualified surf coaches. (Surfing New Zealand Supervisor Coach, International Surfing Association Level 1 and Level 2 Surfing Coach).  Whether you are a beginner surfer looking for expert guidance getting started, or a more advanced surfer looking to fine tune your technique Wayne will work with you to ensure you progress quickly and get more enjoyment out of your surfing.
