Whilst we are based at Te Arai, we are a mobile surf school and are not restricted to any one beach. We operate at the beach offering the most suitable conditions on the day, in the local area, depending on swell size and direction, wind direction and tides. Similarly we do not operate the lessons at fixed times each day so we can respond to the varying rhythm of the waves and tides.

Looking to add a surfing course to your school program or student group? Aotearoa Surf School can organize a program for anyone. We already work with a number of schools and language schools. The curriculum can range from a regular weekly session over the duration of a semester or it can be a one-off session or day trip or an intense 3-5 day course – we’re happy to tailor the program to meet your goals and the students’ needs. We’re fully conversant with ACC and OSH requirements and can provide all the necessary paperwork. We are recommended by both Surfing New Zealand and Water Safety New Zealand and are Emergency First Aid and CPR trained.
